31 Years later…

“31 Years later…”:

Cosa è cambiato in 31 anni, cosa è migliorato nel mondo da quel giorno a Tienanmen? Quasi nulla, in Cina si continua a vietare e nel resto del mondo si trovano “modi nuovi” per chiudere la bocca al dissenso dei cittadini, soprattutto dei giovani. Ma come la vicenda di George Floyd ha dimostrato non c’è regime o “democrazia” che tenga quando i popoli sono uniti nell’indignazione, non esiste mascherina o pandemia che possa mettere a tacere anzi essa stessa diventa mezzo di comunicazione. E se giorni di proteste hanno portato al cambio delle imputazioni nei confronti dei quattro poliziotti e messo a tacere Trump, se a Hong Kong malgrado i divieti si è commemorato è la dimostrazione che se anche i “potenti” si arroccano sulle loro torri e inventano sistemi nuovi per controllarci nulla possono se siamo uniti.

What has changed in 31 years, what has improved in the world since that day in Tiananmen? Almost nothing, in China it continues to ban and in the rest of the world there are “new ways” to close the mouth to the dissent of citizens, especially young people. But as the story of George Floyd has shown there is no regime or “democracy” that holds when people are united in indignation, there is no mask or pandemic that can silence, indeed it itself becomes a means of communication. And if days of protests have led to the change of charges against the four policemen and silenced Trump, if in Hong Kong despite the prohibitions he has commemorated it is the demonstration that if even the “powerful” are perched on their towers and invent systems new to control us nothing can if we are united.
